Asasyoryu(Sumo wrestler) Retirement : 朝青龍引退

Asasyoryu is Japanese Sumo wrestler and Yokozuna(Champion).

This is typical Japanese problem.
It seems to be bullying of Asasyoryu from Sumo association or Japan. In fact, some of people don’t like him, but this problem caused by his behaviour.

This problem can make people misunderstand closed Japanese culture, so I want as many as overseas friend to read this.

The biggest problem is only one.
“Dignity” or “Grace”

In my opinion, there are few people can mention “dignity” recently. I think Asasyoryu behaved as heel, but he doesn’t understand Japan’s national sports and its history and culture until the end.

From overseas, I’ll let you think about if Japanese broke your country’s national sports’ culture and history in bad way, how you feel?
The important thing is this problem isn’t only for Asasyoryu. If Japanese Sumo wrestler do the same thing, he can be criticized. Should be or Must be. Do you?

This is similar to what a gentleman is and also the best player and above the best player which I mentioned before.

In fact, Asasyoryu obviously leads Sumo after Takanohana retired. The thing is there was no other star instead of Asasyoryu and this makes Asasyoryu behaved badly.

What I want to say is this problem caused by his behavior, this is not he is non-Japanese. The problem is he doesn’t understand special or strange Japanese Sumo culture and it became tragedy.

Everything is based on rules.
If he didn’t break rules by accident and he wanted to change Sumo with good aim, result should have been different.

I couldn’t really explain exactly what I want to say.
By the way, this is shame of retirement.
He was great Yokozuna in Sumo history.

これは典型的な日本的な問題と言えるだろう。
まず、海外から見たこの問題は相撲界の、いや日本の朝青龍いじめのように映るだろう。確かに朝青龍の活躍を快く思わない人間がいるのも事実だが、これはやはり本人の行動と結果だろう。

これは日本の閉鎖性を誤解しかねない問題なので、是非世界の人に読んでもらいたい。

問題は大きく一つ。
「品格の問題」
この時代、人の品格を声を大きくして批判できる人なんか大していない。朝青龍はヒールを演じている部分もあるかと思うが、やはり国技の伝統と歴史を最後まで理解できなかったことが問題だろう。

海外から見たときに考えてほしいのは自国の国技の文化と歴史が踏みにじられた時にどう感じるか、ということだ。
別に朝青龍で無くたって、日本人の力士が同じように振舞えば同じように批判されるだろう。されるべき。されなければならない。しますよね、皆さん？

まあGentlemanとは何たるかみたいなことにも通じます。一流と超一流（リンク）の違いにも通じるところです。

貴乃花引退後の相撲界を支えたのは間違いなく朝青龍であり、問題は代わりとなるスターが出てこなかったこと。これが彼の暴走を助長させたことは間違いない。

とにかく、これは朝青龍が日本人でないからおきた批判ではなく、相撲という特殊な日本という国の国技ということを理解できなかった一選手に起きた悲劇なのだ。

全てのものごとはルールの上に成り立っている。
ただいたずらにルールを破るのではなく、閉鎖した相撲業界を変えてやる、くらいの意気込みがあった上での行動なら結果は変わったのではないかと思う。

何か書きたいことが書ききれていないけど、まあいいか。
歴史に残る横綱の引退は残念です。
